A child of the depression, she has earned degrees in journalism, English and religious education, traveled extensively, built a publishing house in the Middle East, survived several wars, and written numerous books (some published only in Arabic), including the triple award-winning In Borrowed Houses. Her latest book is a guidebook to aging, Helping Yourself Grow Old

Meanwhile, she was a wife for 63 years, a Bible teacher, and public speaker while raising three sons and two daughters. Her ten grandchildren are her hope for the world.

IN BORROWED HOUSES
In Borrowed Houses, a memoir of love and faith amidst war in Lebanon is both an award-winning spiritual memoir and an up-close, inside view of a Middle East country engulfed in civil war. Through it, readers share the experience of ordinary people, trying to go on with their lives while their nation, torn by inherent internal divisions, also endures invasions and occupations by foreign armies. A few Americans, faithful to this little country and their own roles of service, endure danger and chaos along with Lebanese friends and coworkers, becoming witnesses of historic events. One of these, Frances Fuller, director of a small publishing house, tells her own painful yet joyful story, which is intertwined always with stories of the people with whom she daily interacted. In the process she gives us a glimpse of the human face of today’s Middle East.

HELPING YOURSELF GROW OLD
Frances Fuller decided to figure out for herself how to live wisely through the puzzles and possibilities of aging and to write her thoughts. The result is these thirty-eight personal essays, full of stories and promises to herself and her family. Dealing with such issues as grief, loneliness, physical limitations, fears, duties, she shares her daily life, enriched with memories. She seeks the significance of her own life story and understanding of her responsibility to younger generations, while solving problems urgent in the moment. Her conversational voice and unusual frankness make this book unique to the self-help genre.
